Cultured diamonds are made in a laboratory using one of two processes. The first method of production uses high pressure, high temperature, or HPHT, which recreates the conditions beneath the earth that form diamonds. The second method uses chemical vapor deposition, or CVD, to create the diamonds. Regardless of the method, the resulting diamonds are real; they are simply created using a different method than mined diamonds.
Because cultured diamonds do not come from a mine, many environmental and social benefits are realized. If the diamonds are produced in the United States, there is also the benefit of supporting a product made in the USA.
